Nasarawa: The Girl Child Education For a Progressive Community

It is 2021 but education for all girls is still an uphill achievement in many countries across the world. Umar Musa Alfa, a North Central coordinator, designed two significant approaches for the advocacy of girls’ rights to education in Keffi, Nasarawa, Nigeria.

The first approach was a wide range of community outreach in Keffin- Shanu. Prior to the outreach, the local community leader admitted a zero record of female university graduates from the community because most girls in the community were usually married immediately after high school graduation or elementary school graduation.

In the second stage of the project, Musa utilized media houses to campaign for the importance of girls’ education through a radio dialogue with the community.
