Women unemployment is one of the developmental problems facing Makoko community in the South-West. The current rate of women unemployment is alarming, and on a visit to the community, ICON had a conversation with the community elder, who revealed that lack of resources and knowledge of business skills, is the community major challenge in fighting poverty, and women and children are the direct victims. The South-West ICON, in response to the UN-Empower Women champion for change call-for-project, organized a three weeks intense intervention for selected women in the community. The project created a three-response strategy: Business Class on Marketing and Branding, Practical Training on Fashion and Design, and a graduation ceremony to create a platform for the trainees to dialogue with government officials and their community leaders.
