Entrepreneurship has been found to be increasingly important in the development of many countries’ economic sectors especially the developing ones like Nigeria. With the current drop in oil prices in the international market and increased rate of unemployment, there is a need for Nigerian women to embrace entrepreneurship and change their orientation from waiting on crumbs from their spouses/fathers to job creators.
Young Girls Entrepreneurship Program (YOGEP) is a women empowerment project that was organized by North-West Coordinator; Hauwa Suleiman. The project challenged the dependent nature of the target audience in Kinkinau district of Kaduna State and trained young women from the age of 14 to 40 on catering skills. Twenty young women were trained in life skills (catering), business development and management, personal effectiveness, branding and marketing, and entrepreneurship.
